Sri Lanka holds Course for Leader Trainers

To effectively implement the Scout training programmes to young people, the Asia-Pacific Office supports the training of leaders, making Sri Lanka as the latest national Scout organization to organize a leader training course.

The course had a total of 38 participants, including one participant from Hong Kong and two from Pakistan, held from 2 to 8 December 2006 at the SIDA Centre in Hatton, about 150 kilometers away from Colombo.

Participating Scout Leaders agreed to coordinate and implement their learning in a more effective way. Regional support was extended through the presence of Regional Director Abdullah Rasheed, Mr Thian Hong-Boon of the APR office and Dr. Effendy Bin Rajab of Singapore. The newly appointed National Training Commissioner Mr Shantha Madurawe, was the Course Leader. Hon. Mr. V. Puthrasigamany, Secretary of the National Scout Parliamentarian Union of Sri Lanka was present at the closing ceremony.

Sri Lanka Scout Association had its last Course for Leader Trainers in 1995.
