India hosts first building financial capabilities workshop

The first National Workshop on Building Financial Capabilities hosted by the Bharat Scouts and Guides of India has gathered 28 participants from Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka at the national headquarters in New Delhi, India from 19th to 22nd September 2008.

BS&G Vice-President Shri K. P. Mishra opened the workshop and saw it as an opportunity to assist NSOs in understanding recent trends in exploring new avenues to build financial capabilities and managing resources. BS&G National Commissioner Shri L M jain, in his closing remarks, encouraged the participants to move forward in minimizing the returns from the assets.

This four-day workshop looked into the area of financial management covering the current financial market scenario and the present BS&G resources and financial management. It also focused on registration system, Scout supplies, partnerships and projects, grants and sponsorships.

Mr Vineesh Kochhar, Chief Financial Officer of Dupot India, shared his perspectives from a corporate sector and even on a non-profit organization on the area of management resources.

Representing the regional office was Director S Prassanna Shrivastava who coordinated the event and faciliated most of the workshop sessions.
