The Scouts of the World Discovery is a residential experience focusing on the environment, development or peace. For the initial trial it will focus on environment and sustainability, although there will be plenty of opportunity to look at the development and peace aspects of the Award. During the experience, participants will have the opportunity to explore one or more aspects of environmental sustainability, respond to these aspects and decide how they can take action.

 

Again, we have the pleasure to inform that Argentina continue increasing Rovers awared with the Scouts of the World Award. The pass 24th May, in Mendoza city, eleven young persons commitment with the Millenium Development Goal “Ensure environmental sustanibility” were awared because of their project. They are working together on it since October 2007.

 

With all the emotion, the National Commission which coordinate the programme Scouts of the World in Argentina was attending an activity the pass 10th May in Cordoba city. Rover Scouts from the Community Niño Jesús of the Scout Group Perito Moreno became the first Rovers in Argentina who are awared with the Scouts of the Word Award.

 

Imagine an ongoing international opportunity to enter into the real adventure of today's world: protecting the environment, working for development, challenging ethnic and nationalistic prejudices and building peace within and between communities; in one thought, contributing to making the world a better place.

All this and more is currently happening through the efforts of thousands of Rovers from all over the world that are working in their Scouts of the World Award.

More and more countries have adopted and implemented this world initiative within their programme for the Rover section. Here is some news from all corners of the globe:

 

L’Association des Scouts du Canada et la société Mer et Monde signent un important partenariat visant à développer, soutenir et administrer le programme Scouts du monde.

 

Scouts of the World Award programme took flight officially at the start of 2006, along with the rise of Rovering in Singapore. It had since then been incorporated into the Rover Progress Scheme, along which coincides with the part of the criteria for Singapore's National Youth Achievement Award.

 

The castle of Jambville (Training Centre of the “Scouts et Guides de France”) hosted the launching of the Scouts of the World Award in France on October 20-21, an initiative that aims to prepare young adults for world citizenship. Every year, the Scouts and Guides of France support hundreds of international solidarity projects, which now have the opportunity to be part of the Award. Opened to Scouts and non-Scouts from 15 to 26 years, the Scouts of the World Award includes three principal themes which aim to improve living conditions on our planet: Environment, Development and Peace.

 

World Scout Bureau organized for the first time the Scouts of the World Workshop on 28-31 May 2007 at the Vajiravudh Scout Camp in Thailand. The aim of the workshop is to share with National Scout Organizations the technical process of developing the Scouts of the World programme as a way of revitalizing the Senior and Rover sections for 15 to 26 year-old members. Countries represented were Bhutan, Republic of China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Thailand for a total of 42 participants.

 

Our natural environment is very important for the youth of the world as it is intricately linked with the health and opportunities we have for the future. There are many ways in which individual citizens and groups of people are working towards an environmentally sound future and we want to hear your story.

 

On Saturday 14 of October, in the classroom of the Soochow University of Taipei, Taiwan, was held the “SW Discovery” of “Water Conservation Project”.
