A propos du programme Scout

The Scouts of the World Discovery is a residential experience focusing on the environment, development or peace. For the initial trial it will focus on environment and sustainability, although there will be plenty of opportunity to look at the development and peace aspects of the Award. During the experience, participants will have the opportunity to explore one or more aspects of environmental sustainability, respond to these aspects and decide how they can take action.

Again, we have the pleasure to inform that Argentina continue increasing Rovers awared with the Scouts of the World Award. The pass 24th May, in Mendoza city, eleven young persons commitment with the Millenium Development Goal “Ensure environmental sustanibility” were awared because of their project. They are working together on it since October 2007.

With all the emotion, the National Commission which coordinate the programme Scouts of the World in Argentina was attending an activity the pass 10th May in Cordoba city. Rover Scouts from the Community Niño Jesús of the Scout Group Perito Moreno became the first Rovers in Argentina who are awared with the Scouts of the Word Award.

The adoption of the Strategy for Scouting in 2002 was the result of the work done at all levels of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) in recent years. The Strategy for Scouting recognises that each National Scout Organisation (NSO) has peculiar needs and challenges. Consequently each NSO adapts the Strategy to its own reality and develops coherent action plans. Therefore, the Strategy for Scouting is not rigid, it is a framework for integral action.

L'équipe de travail éducation pour tous est un sous-groupe du Comité des Méthodes Educatives (CME), qui agit dans des domaines spécifiques de la priorité stratégique 4 "Ouverture" - abattre les barrières et s'ouvrir à tous les segments de la société.

L'ouverture du Scoutisme aux enfants travailleurs, aux enfants vivant et travaillant dans la rue et ceux issus de communautés ethniques minoritaires a été un grand succès pour certaines OSN. Les lignes directrices sur le Scoutisme pour les enfants en situation particulièrement difficile (ESPD), enrichies des expériences vécues au sein des OSN, proposent des conseils pratiques et un soutien pour le recrutement de jeunes, le développement de la résilience et la nécessité de se concentrer sur la protection des enfants.

Les horreurs de la guerre

Soucieux de voir surgir la paix alors que la guerre a éclaté depuis trois ans, Baden-Powell écrit en 1917 : "Le mouvement des éclaireurs...a ses racines parmi la jeunesse de tous les pays civilisés, et il se développe de jour en jour. On peut concevoir que si, dans les années qui viennent, une proportion considérable de la génération montante de citoyens de chaque nation faisait partie de cette fraternité, ils seraient unis par un lien d'amitié personnelle et de compréhension réciproque tel qu'il n'en a jamais existé encore dans le passé et qui permettrait de trouver une solution aux terribles conflits internationaux".

Que faire des jeunes ?

Libéré de ses missions, Baden-Powell s'installe en Angleterre. Il a observé la société britanique affaiblie par le chômage et de nouveaux problèmes sociaux. Il veut s'occuper de la jeunesse. Profitant de sa notoriété, il s'adresse directement aux jeunes en écrivant dans les journaux vendus en kiosque.

Scouting does not exist in isolation; it is part of the community and it needs to work in partnership with others, from individuals to organisations and institutions at local, national and world levels.

Scouts are making sure they will be prepared for World Environment Day (WED) on the 5th of June, with this year's theme being 'CO2 Kick the Habit! Towards a Low Carbon Economy.' This theme challenges all of us to look critically at our day-to-day lives and take steps to reduce our climate change impact.

Scouts are already doing many good turns for the environment and focussing on the climate change problem. Scouts Canada have a Climate Change Ambassadors Programme and have worked with 10 countries in Southern Africa to develop their climate change programmes.

Friday 16 May 2008 - Represented by its Acting Secretary General, Mr. Luc Panissod, the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) participated in a new meeting of the Alliance of Youth CEOs. These organisations have been working together since 1996, when they realised that their 6 movements had great potential for joint advocacy work for young people. The Alliance, which altogether represent more than a 100 million young people, the widest component of organised youth movements in the world, aims to raise international awareness on youth issues through its advocacy work.

Geneva, 3 April 2008 - Youth are a powerful resource for development and are critical actors in the realisation of the Millennium Development Goals. This was one of the key messages of the World Youth Report 2007, which was presented in Geneva on 3 April 2008 at an event hosted by the CONGO Committee of Youth NGOs which is currently chaired by the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM). The event was also attended by representatives of international youth organisations and UN agencies.

For almost 100 years the Scout Movement has contributed to building a better world through the personal commitment of hundred of millions of women and men living up to their Scout Promise. In many countries, people with leadership roles (politics, civil society, international organizations, business) are former Scouts. This does not happen by chance.

Members of the World Baden-Powell Fellowship met in Seoul, Korea 3-6 April 2008. Their Majesties the King and Queen of Sweden participated in the event. He is Honorary Chairman of the World Scout Foundation.

Environ 10 millions de scouts ont participé à des activités pour la Paix dans 110 pays, à la suite d'un programme initié par le Roi Abdullah d'Arabie Saoudite et co-financé par Sa Majesté le Roi Carl XVI Gustaf de Suède. Il s'agit du plus grand programme jamais entrepris par les scouts du monde entier et ayant récolté le plus de succès.
