The 28th November 2011 marked the beginning of COP17/CMP7 in Durban South Africa. The World Organisation of the Scout Movement has a delegation present and will be fully participating inside of the conference until it ends on the 9th December. The WOSM exhibition stand is attractively displaying best practises from around the world; projects run at every level and from every corner of the movement are without exception being marvelled at.
Promotion of the SCENES network is running full speed at the Jamboree in Sweden. We are only half way through the camp and already more than a thousand scouts have stopped by and tried our different activities.
What would the world be like if designed by Scouts? If you could let your imagine go wild and bring a new species to life, what would it look like? How can we make a difference in our home societies so that we live in a more harmonious world for people and nature?
These are some of the questions being explored by Scouts at workshops being ran by IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) as part of the Global Development Village (GDV) at the 22nd World Scout Jamboree in Sweden.

Chaque foyer de plus de 31 millions de scouts dans les 161 pays membres de l'OMMS partout dans le monde, peuvent établir un record mondial en se réunissant afin d'agir pour une cause commune - la planète. BP disait : "Essayez de quitter la terre en la laissant un peu meilleure que vous ne l’avez trouvée". Oui, vous pouvez le faire simplement en allant "au-delà de l'Heure". S'il vous plaît, soyez solidaires avec les distingués membres du Comité Mondial du Scoutisme et les Jeunes Conseillers au niveau mondial qui mèneront une action à Genève à cette date et ce moment là.
Cherchant une manière simple de prendre soin de l'environnement et d'impliquer les scouts du monde entier, Lucas Guilherme, un scout du Groupe Rattlesnake au Brésil, a eu l'idée d'utiliser Internet (réseaux sociaux , e-mail et sites web) pour encourager chaque scout à planter un arbre.
Son idée est basée sur le 7ème Objectif du Millénaire pour le développement qui est de «Préserver l’environnement".

During the World Scout Conference held in Korea, 2008, a small team from The Web of Hope carried out a professional analysis of the carbon footprint of this event. Two technical reports have been received and a third report has recently been written to explore what can be done with the information - how it can be used by NSOs, by Scouts at local level and by WOSM to see how we can reduce the carbon footprint of our Scout activities.
Le 2e séminaire des Centres Scouts d'Excellence pour la Nature et l'Environnement (SCENES) a eu lieu au Centre Scout International de Kandertseg (KISC) du 18 au 23 Mai. A de nombreuses oocasions lors du programme, des opportunités se sont présentées d'échanger des idées sur l'environnement entre les centres SCENES existants et les centres intéréssés à être homologués SCENES. Les participants provenaient de différentes orientations professionnelles (certains du domaine environnemental mais pour la majorité non) et possédaient différents degrés d'expérience dans la gestion environnementale d leur Centre.
Since 2007, the last Saturday of March is no longer just a Saturday. It has become a significant day. It is when people all over the world unite together for a common cause to help save our environment. It is Earth Hour.
The Singapore Scout Association first started observing Earth Hour in 2009 when Singapore officially pledged for Earth Hour. WWF Singapore then approached the NSO and invited us to be one of their supporting partners, right after the World Organisation of Scout Movement reinforced their long-term partnership with WWF for Earth Hour at the end of 2008 following the recommendations of Scouts at the 10th World Scout Youth Forum in Korea. Once again in 2010, The Singapore Scout Association became one of the supporting partners of WWF Singapore's Earth Hour Concert at Esplanade Park, Singapore, on 27th March 2010.

À l’appui des Nations Unies qui ont déclaré 2010 l’Année Internationale de la Biodiversité, Nettoyons la Terre encourage les Organisations Scoutes Nationales (OSN) et les groupes Scouts à concentrer leurs activités cette année à la protection de la biodiversité dans vos collectivités, c’est-à-dire protéger la variété et la beauté de votre nature locale.
A l'occasion de la Journée Mondiale de l'Environnement, le Scoutisme mondial reconnu pour son soutien à "Nettoyons la Terre"
Dans son Rapport d’Activités 2009, "Nettoyons la Terre" félicite le Scoutisme mondial pour son soutien. Nettoyons la Terre travaille en partenariat avec le Programme des Nations Unies pour l’Environnement (PNUE). L’Organisation Mondiale du Mouvement Scout est reconnue comme un ‘allié’ clé de Nettoyons la Terre dans son rapport global d'activités lancé pour soutenir la Journée Mondiale de l’environnement, le 5 juin. Les activités scoutes sont mises en évidence dans le Rapport d’Activités.
Parmi les activités, celles de nettoyage au niveau local ainsi qu'au niveau national. Dans plusieurs regions, les communautés ont également mis en place des programmes de recyclage, de préservation de l’énergie, de plantation d’arbres et des activités de sensibilisation.
