Score! Soccer the Scout way: ARO receives 200 balls thanks to UEFA
NAIROBI – On Friday 11 July 2008, the ARO (Africa Regional Office) received 200 soccer balls, thanks to the kind gesture of Mr. Per Omdal, Vice- President of UEFA. In a brief but colourful ceremony, the CEO of Alive and Kicking Kenya, Mr. Barnard Martin, on behalf of UEFA, handed over the balls to the Regional Office.
The ceremony was attended by a local Scout troop, representatives of Alive and Kicking Kenya and the ARO personnel. Activities included entertainment by the Scouts and remarks by the guests and host.
In a thank you letter addressed to Mr. Per Omdal, Vice- President of UEFA, the Regional Director, Rubina Haroon said, ''The Africa Regional Office would like to thank and acknowledge UEFA's donation, supported by Alive and Kicking Kenya, which substantially contribute to our efforts to engage youth in outdoor activities, hone their physical skills and participation in a team sport, so overwhelmingly enjoyed by millions of young people on this continent''.
