23rd APR Scout Conference shows Scouting’s globality

The opening of the 23rd APR Scout Conference on 27th October 2009 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia showed Scouting’s staying power and its globality as the Scout Association of Malaysia hosted the regional conference after a gap of 45 long years.

This regional conference not only covers the whole region but the whole globe as well having 440 participants from different regions: Asia-Pacific, Africa, Arab, Inter-America, Europe and Eurasia, representing Scouting from various levels of world Scouting and other organizations showing the Scout Movement as a borderless organization.

To mark this historic event held in Malaysia, Honourable Dato Ahmad Shabery bin Cheek, Minister of Youth & Sports; Honourable Dato Seri Dr Shafie bin Haji Mohammad Salleh, Chief Scout of Persekutuan Pengakap Malaysia; William F. "Rick" Cronk, Chairman of the World Scout Committee; Mario Diaz; Simon Hang Bock Rhee, Vice-Chairman of the World Scout Committee and Luc Panissod, World Organization of the Scout Movement Secretary General.

The evening's opening ceremony ended with a welcome dinner treating everyone with Malaysia’s unique hospitality.
