My name is Luis Fernando Flores Medina I have 20 years and am 83 Rover Group Barrio Cordoba, San Jose, Costa Rica and I scout since 2005, where I have learned a lot since then, but something that shaped me as a person is the importance of service to others in a selfless and without pay, just the satisfaction of a job well done and the happiness of others.
I am currently a fourth year student of medicine and surgery at the International University of the Americas and as part of my studies and my career I learned the importance of providing the expertise to help people and the satisfaction of each patient to be and adequately addressed in the best way. Because definitely the best pay you can get a doctor is simply the appreciation of each patient.
Maso least I can go and suspicious of the idea from which the idea of my project because my career within the movement and my medical studies led me to think of ways of how to help people starting with my own community, and then was how the idea of a health fair in which the idea is totally free medical consultations to promote the health of the people and strengthen the importance of visiting clinics or hospitals for checkups annually and so promote the well-being of people.
The project started as a personal project focusing on my future as a doctor, but then I joined several members of my group who wanted to help scout. The project ended up being a success as they were 4 health fairs in which Medical consultations, physical examinations, blood pressure taps and pediatric consultations.
The place used for fairs benefited from the Church of Our Lady of Ujarraz to pay the parish hall next to the church.
The materials were all run on my own and with the support of my fellow college also provided various materials.
The number of patients who have been subjected to comprehensive examinations and have a small file may reach 20 and and patients who have come for consultations and blood pressure taps could exceed 50 people and has invested around 300 hours of work.
But the project even managed to exceed my expectations and ended becoming a resounding success and began to bear fruit at the time that my fellow community decided to participate in this project, in which they learned something more important than the medicine itself, "THE SERVICE SELFLESS for others "and ended up participating in a scout project without being scouts!
Finally I want you to know that I'm messenger of peace thanks to this project because I could relate many goals as my career with the scout movement. Also apart from performing a service project staff, I managed to motivate my team members to participate, and several of my colleagues in medicine who joined to make this dream a reality. So I consider myself a messenger of peace. By this I encourage other scouts the world to conduct their projects and not only remain on paper or in the mind, and that every dream can be possible only deal really wanted to serve and believe.
