On May 6, 54 young scouts full of passion and commitment belonging to 12 countries and cultures of the Interamerican Scout Region participated as exhibitors in the first Expo of Community Projects “ExpoPro”.

From environmental conservation to supporting people in vulnerable situations, each project focused on addressing a specific need in its local environment and promoting community development. For several weeks, each of the scouts worked hard, putting their leadership skills, teamwork and creativity to use to prepare their displays.

“Expo Pro 2023 was exciting and enriching. I presented my project to other scouts, sharing ideas and getting inspired by their proposals. The atmosphere was full of energy and creativity. I felt motivated to see the interest generated by my project and the shared experiences. I explored booths with a variety of focuses, from environmental conservation to technology. I connected with scouts from different countries, enriching my perspective. Expo pro 2023 was a rewarding experience that strengthened my passion for community service and left me excited about the impact we can make together.”

The event was held virtually using an innovative platform as a meeting point. The young scouts created informative posters and prepared inspirational speeches to share with visitors to the exhibition. In this first edition, 200 people registered to visit the exhibits that were divided into thematic areas related to the Sustainable Development Goals: Environment and Sustainability, Peace and Community Involvement, Life Skills, and Health and Well-being.

The projects were presented in carefully decorated stands, shared the importance of their project, answered questions and even visited other exhibits. The exhibition was not only a space to show the projects, but also to encourage the exchange of ideas and develop capacities among the young scouts. The participating people were able to see how the Scout Method supports young people to meet their goals.

Panel Expro Pro

Thanks to funding from the Interamerican Scout Foundation, the first exhibition of community projects led by young people in the Region was extremely successful; it inspired other youth to take action and make a difference in their communities, but it also demonstrated the power of youth for social transformation.

And so, these young leaders of 31 projects in the region invite us to believe that it is never too early to make a difference and build a better world starting with small actions.

A second edition of ExproPro will be coming soon... wait for it!
