Philippe Pijollet, homage to an innovator
Philippe Pijollet passed away on Friday 17 November 2006. The former Director of Adult Resources at the World Scout Bureau, which he joined in 1974, Philippe was a brilliant pioneer in the field of human resources management, continuing the tradition of innovation in Scouting.
He played a key role in showing the close relationship between the Youth Programme and the role of adults in Scouting by introducing the World Adult Resources Policy. An influential member of the Educational Methods team, he contributed to the development of tools for use in analysis and training which transformed the manner of dealing with the Scout method. He also contributed to the development of strategic tools which facilitated the growth and social impact of Scouting.
Philippe Pijollet placed great importance on precision and simplicity. He was an excellent friend, and through his outstanding hospitality, invited the sharing and debate of new ideas, which renewed the practices of Scouting during these past 30 years. In 2002 he was awarded the Bronze Wolf.
The World Scout Committee and the World Scout Bureau join Samantha, his wife and ex-colleague of the Bureau, and his family in their sadness. The life of Philippe Pijollet will be celebrated at the funeral in Geneva on Thursday 23 November.
