A New Executive Director, Education, Research and Development Department in the World Scout Bureau, Central Office.
Secretary General Dr. Eduardo Missoni has appointed Ms Anne Whiteford, from United Kingdom, as Executive Director of the Education, Research and Development Department of World Scout Bureau, Central Office (WSBCO).
In this capacity, Anne will lead and co-ordinate the work of the World Scout Bureau (Central Office and Regional Offices) in the fields of Youth Programme and Adult Resources, co-ordinate the preparation of World Youth Events for their educational component and support the work of the Educational Methods Committee recently created by the World Scout Committee.
Anne is 48 years old, and is well known both personally and professionally throughout World Scouting. Having recently completed the Strategy part of the MBA course of the Open University, Anne holds a M.Sc. in Global Development Management, a Diploma in Training Management and a B.Sc. in Biological Sciences
Anne joined the WSBCO in March 2001 as Deputy Director, Strategy and Adult Resources. She then occupied the position of Director, Strategy Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation from October 2002 to December 2005. In January 2006, she was promoted Director of Adult Resources and Deputy Director, Education, Research and Development.
As such, she was in charge of setting up and supporting the work of the Educational Methods Committee and the Adult Resources task team, of co-managing and supporting the department staff to achieve objectives and for developing the educational aspects of the Gifts for Peace project.
Before joining the WSBCO, Anne was Programme and Development Manager with The Scout Association (UK) from April 1990 to March 2001.
Anne will replace Dominique Bénard as Head of the Education, Research and Development Department on 1 December 2006. Dominique was recently appointed as Executive Director of Open Minds Global, a large project developed jointly by WAGGGS, WOSM and Carpe Vitam, a Swedish foundation.
