Going for an Oscar

Awareness and recognition of your own competencies

A guide to why recognising adults in Scouting's competencies is important to retaining volunteers.

Throughout their Scouting life, adult volunteers gain many qualities and competencies. These can be shown with badges and training certificates, but also go beyond this. In this Euro.Scout.Doc you can see why it is important for individuals to recognise these achievements and monitor them for their own personal benefit and growth. You will also see how a National Scout Association (NSA) can help with developing and recognising these competencies. These achievements provide personal satisfaction and encourage adult volunteers to stay longer with the organisation. In order to retain its adult volunteers, it is important for the NSA to acknowledge their skills and competencies.
