Network Meeting of Scout and Guide Representatives, Rome 20th – 22nd October
The Network Meeting is the annual meeting of Scout and Guide representatives. This year an extra special effort was made to design a meeting that would enthuse, inform and motivate the development of a network. While there are aspects of the event that could have been improved or delivered better the consensus feeling was that it was the best Network Meeting in this triennium.
There were 41 Guide and Scout participants (one of the largest participant numbers for a Network Meeting) from 18 countries. While a number of the participants were Scout/Guide representatives and Scout/Guide friends (Scouts and Guides who represent other organisations in national or European fora) there was a very healthy number of new people. This serves the dual purpose of identifying future potential contacts/representatives and of touching NSA/NSOs not normally involved.
The two main themes of the weekend were:
1) to highlight the benefit of a network as a forum for the exchange of information relevant to their responsibility as a Scout/Guide representative thus allowing them to make more informed, better, decisions;
2) to stress the importance of relating their representation to the reality of Scouting/Guiding as it exists on the ground.
