Well – Tailored Support is a new service of the European Scout Region and is aimed at associations with one or more development challenges.
If you think that YOU can benefit from this then read on!

What is Tailored Support?

Tailored Support is a new service of the European Scout Region and is aimed at associations with one or moe developmental challenges, and who think they would benefit from some additional help by calling on the assistance of experts on particular topics.

Why has the service been created?

The European Scout Committee has responded to requests from associations to reduce the number of seminars and events whilst at the same time, increasing the provision of tailored support. Providing tailored support to associations has a number of benefits: It is more direct, going right to the centre of the challenges that exist by sending experts to work with associations in their own settings. By working in the countries requesting assistance, more people from the association have the opportunity to benefit from the support of experts. There is more of a multiplier effect.

Can you give an example of what is meant by tailored support?

Yes. Here is an example: An association identifies that it has some challenges with three topics:
- Adult training system renewal
- Youth programme for provision for adolescents and post-adolescents
- Effective external representation The association decides to submit a request for support The association’s request for support is successful The association and the European Scout Region develop a package of tailored support on these three topics.
The Tailored Support Unit identifies a small team of people, drawn from the Resource Pool etc. to deliver the package of tailored support over a set period of time with clear milestones. Following the completion of the delivery of tailored support, the Tailored Support Unit assesses the impact to determine if the challenges have been addressed satisfactorily.

How is Tailored Support provided to NSOs/NSAs?

Tailored Support is provided to associations by using the expertise that exists in: The European Scout Region’s Resource Pool The European Scout Region’s Core Groups, Support Groups and Units Experts from other NSOs and NSAs.

Who covers the costs associated with tailored support?

The European Scout Region will cover the costs of associated with sending experts to work with associations.

Tailored support could help our association? How do we make a request?

If you are seeking support for particular challenges that you may be facing, the process is quite simple. Download, complete and return the Tailored Support Request Form. Seek the approval of your International Commissioner before returning to the World Scout Bureau – European Regional Office. The Tailored Support Unit is planning to deal with requests on an on-going basis throughout the year and will try to process them as swiftly as possible.

What happens after sending of our request for Tailored Support?

We will acknowledge receipt of your request by return. We will respond in 2 weeks to inform you if your request has been successful or not. This assessment will be made by your Committee Contact in conjunction with the Tailored Support Unit.
If the request has been successful, you will receive details on the process involved in designing, delivering and evaluating a package of tailored support. We will then work with you and your Committee Contact to design the package of tailored support and identify people from the Resource Pool to assist. After 6 weeks, from the date of the initial support request being submitted, the package of tailored support should be agreed. The package of tailored support is provided over a period of time.

Who should I speak to for more information?
