ARO: New communication strategy
In April 2008, the Africa Regional Office (ARO) completed a new communication strategy for Scouting in Africa for the 2008 – 2011 triennium. ARO's Communications Unit proposed the 11-Point master plan in a bid to address communication issues in the region.
The proposal comprises of 11 projects, which include among others:
- A Media Centre for Scouting in Africa (Africa Scout Radio, Africa Scout Television, Print Section, etc)
- Appointment of an international figure as a goodwill ambassador for Scouting in Africa
- The appointment of Public Relations Commissioners in all NSOs
- Portuguese Service Desk (PSD) for Lusophone NSOs
- A Media database
- A training programme on Communication in the region
- etc.
''It's now clear where we are heading as far as communication is concerned in the Africa Scout Region'' Commented Elzette Balgobin, Manager for the Indian Ocean Scout Sub-Region, reacting to the launch of the strategy. The strategy proposes an overall evaluation exercise at the end of the triennium.
