La Organización Mundial del Movimiento Scout (OMMS), en conjunto con el Consulado de Guías y Scouts de Suecia (Scouterna) organizó una conferencia de un día el 1ero de agosto de 2011 en el telón del 22 Jamboree Scout Mundial a cerca de cómo mantener niños a salvo del peligro.

On 12th June, the International Labour Organization (ILO) invites everyone to celebrate the World Day against Child Labour. The ILO’s most recent global estimate is that out of 250 million working children, 115 million children are involved in hazardous work. This is work that by its nature or the circumstances in which it is carried out, is likely to harm children’s health, safety or morals. Children working in many different industries and occupations can be exposed to such risks and the problem is global, affecting industrialised as well as developing countries.

October 16-17, Scouts from all corners of the world joined together to participate in the annual JOTA-JOTI (Jamboree On The Air-Jamboree On The Internet). This was the 53rd iteration of the JOTA and the 14th for the JOTI. As a Scout event this is one that brings together the largest number of Scouts together for a single event, participation has well over 500’000 participants over the 48 hours that the event is happening.

Este año como parte del JOTA-JOTI (Jamboree en el aire - Jamboree en Internet), que tendrá lugar el 16 y 17 de octubre, la OMMS se ha asociado con UNICEF para desarrollar una plataforma que ofrecerá a los jóvenes la oportunidad de expresar sus opiniones. Aprovechando la enorme popularidad del JOTA-JOTI, que reúne cada año a más de medio millón de participantes, el objetivo es preguntarle a la juventud de hoy sobre sus motivaciones y deseos.

En relación con el Año Internacional de la Juventud que se lanzó en Agosto de este año y el 20 aniversario de la firma de la Convención sobre los Derechos de los Niños celebrada en Noviembre del 2009, el tema de este año para el JOTA-JOTI es "El Derecho a Ser Escuchado".

Aparte del tradicional chat en Internet - JOTI o radio - JOTA este año los Scouts también utilizarán las nuevas herramientas de medios de comunicación como facebook, twitter, YouTube, flickr y el blog La Juventud Opina de UNICEF. Descubre las actividades que ofrece este año

Geneva 20 November 2009 – On November 20th the world will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the adoption by the General Assembly of the United Nations of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). 20 Years ago in 1989 The World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) was present to join representatives global community in celebrating this historic event and encourage governments to ratify the document. No other international legal document has been endorsed by so many countries in so little time. Today again Scouting joins its voice with the rest of the global community to remember and celebrate this date.

12th June - World Day Against Child Labour 2009
Theme: Give girls a chance, end child labour

The World Day Against Child Labour will be celebrated on 12 June 2009. The World Day this year marks the tenth anniversary of the adoption of the landmark ILO Convention No. 182, which addresses the need for action to tackle the worst forms of child labour.

The International Labour Organization (ILO) and World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) share a common commitment to pursuing social justice and peace, empowering young people through human rights-based educational programmes and promoting the social dimension of globalisation. This long-standing partnership was recently strengthened through a renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) extending our cooperation in the fight against child labour, earlier this year.

Ms. Michele Jankanish, Director of the ILO’s International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour (IPEC ) and Mr. Luc Panissod, Acting Secretary-General of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today, to extend their cooperation in the fight against child labour for a further 3 years.

The cooperation between the two organizations will be based on a shared vision in pursuing social justice and peace, the empowerment of young people, and promoting the social dimensions of globalization.

Following its commitment on children rights, demonstrated by the memorandum with the ILO on Child labour and with UNICEF, WOSM is committed to advocate for Children rights in the European Union. WOSM has been selected as a Permanent NGO Member of the EU Forum on Childrens Rights. This is a group for the promotion of children’s rights within the EU but also outside of the EU and worldwide.

El pasado 05 de octubre, Scouts, Caminantes y Rovers de la Asociación de Scouts del Perú corrieron 15 kilómetros bajo un mismo lema “No al Trabajo Infantil”.

La bandera scout mundial recorrió 15 kilómetros, siendo trasladada por un Caminante.

El pasado mes de agosto, la Asociación de Scouts de Venezuela y la Fundación Internacional Jóvenes por los Derechos Humanos, realizaron en un importante centro comercial de Caracas una jornada de recolección de firmas en apoyo a los Derechos Humanos, en el marco de la alianza firmada por ambas organizaciones el pasado mes de junio.
