e-learning tool
E-learning resource on 'Keeping Scouts Safe From Harm' was developed for Adults and the International Service Team (IST) of the 21st World Scout Jamboree in the UK (2007) and is now available online for global use. Inspired from the E-learning resources on Child Protection created by NSOs, the tool, which is currently in English and will soon be available in French as well, has been designed to develop worldwide awareness on this important subject.
Although Scout associations in many developed countries are having their own Child Protection policy, guidelines and adult training in place, there are many Scout associations who have not yet done much in the area. In an organisation like World Scouting, where millions of children are involved in regular interaction with adults, it is very important that there is a focus on 'Keeping Scouts Safe From Harm' so as to fight against risks and dangers that children incur throughout the world.
Specially designed for easy use and online accessibility, any adult can take part in this 20 minute e-learning training to discover aspects of Child Rights & Child Protection in Scouting and about taking care of oneself while helping at Scouting events. Special Centenary Jamboree certificates can still be printed at the end of the training.
Although this tool is focussed on the Jamboree, it is currently being generalised for any Scout association to be able to modifiy and use for their adult training purposes. It was the first time in the history of Jamborees that an E-learning tool was created to support IST/Adult training.
The tool has been produced by the World Scout Bureau, The Scout Association (UK) and the Jamboree Team. 'Kindly allow approximately 2 minutes (depending on your system configuration and internet speed) for the E-learning tool to initially load on your web browser. Once this initial loading is complete, the resource is very quick to navigate through.
