German Technical Cooperation (GTZ)
The German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) pursues initiatives in sustainable development.
Although it is owned by the German government and works often on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, GTZ works with a wide range of clientèle, on the international level with UN agencies, on the national level with state governments and finally with the private sector. For GTZ, sustainable development is supporting economic growth, ensuring equality of opportunity across social class and gender and correctly using natural resources.
World Scouting and GTZ have often worked together in the areas of youth policy and youth empowerment. For example, together they hosted the 2004 “Youth Dialogue on Youth Employment” forum. In 2005, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between GTZ and WOSM.
