UNHCR launches social media campaign to raise awareness about refugee displacement

Every minute, 8 people around the world flee their homes to escape conflict or persecution.

To raise awareness about this issue, UNHCR is launching their #add1voice community action application on Facebook and Twitter on Thursday, November 24th. .

The aim of the application is to inspire people around the world to add their own voice to the campaign by standing together and telling the world that even one person forced to flee their home is too many.

UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie, who launched the 1 campaign on World Refugee Day, June 20th 2011, is the main supporter of the campaign. Other supporters taking a stand for refugees include Columbian rock star Juanes, Greek singer George Dalaras, lifetime UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Barbara Hendricks and Chinese actress Yao Chen.

The app. is available in English, French, Spanish, Italian and Greek. But anyone with a Facebook or Twitter account can participate and add their voice (or text) in any language.

Click on the following links to participate : English - French - Spanish

We want to recruit as many people as possible to be a part of this project!

It's easy to do and it will only take a moment to record a scripted message.

We believe even 1 person forced to flee is too many.
