Find out about the humanitarian actions of the Scouts of Haïti

During the previous natural disaster caused by hurricanes in 2008, the Haitian Scouts were able to act on three sites which were particularly affected by the disaster (Gonaïves, Cabaret and Chansolme) with the help of the French Embassy in Haiti, World Food Programme, UNICEF, the platform of Franco-Haitian Associations, Electricians Without Borders, Pastoral University & many other partners.

In total: 19 schools, two religious centres, a cultural centre and nine houses of underprivileged families were decontaminated and cleaned. Many meals were organized for families and a monitoring was put into place to supervise the return to service of electrical circuits in the schools. There were 596 Scouts that relayed each other during this period. The objectives were achieved up to 90% despite difficulties which were met in the field (water and food supply shortages, misunderstanding with international NGOs, delays in buying the materials, …) the outcome remains positive.
