Marrakech Charter (Bangalore Revised Edition) is now available

The revised edition of the Marrakech Charter has been published. It was approved by the World Scout Committee at its meeting on 17 April 2005 in Rome as a need to improve the work in the field of partnerships in Scouting.

Later it was adopted by the 37th World Scout Conference in Hammamet (Tunisia). The Seminar on Partnership in Bangalore was a response a resolution at the 36th World Scout Conference (Thessaloniki, Greece) which requested an evaluation of the work that has been done in the 10 years since Marrakech, in the area of partnership.

The new Charter considered and included recommendations suggested during the seminar in Bangalore. In particular, a chapter defining partnership in Scouting has been included and described as "the establishment of a voluntary and collaborative relationship to achieve mutual goals and experiences between 2 or more entities by exchanging and sharing what they have in an educational process or project. They have a common intention which they want to reach within defined time frame".

The Charter encourages the establishment of multilateral partnerships with other Scout associations especially in the same geographical area and calls for active cooperation with entities external to the Scout Movement.

World Scouting wishes that the document is used as a guideline for establishing and developing partnerships- as it very clearly indicates the criteria for partnerships to be established between Scout Associations and other local, national or international governmental or non-governmental organisations.
