13th World Scout Moot
The 13th World Scout Moot took place at Rowallan Scout Camp, Nairobi, Kenya from 27 July – 7 August 2010. Over 1,700 participants from 69 countries were in attendance.
Hosted by the Kenya Scouts Association, the event marked the first time that a World Scout Moot had taken place in the Africa Scout Region.

After 10 days of fun and adventure, the first ever Scout Moot in Africa is coming to a close. As described by many participants, it will go down in history as an event full of adventure, fun, making new friends, learning new skills, experiencing the warmth and hospitality of Africa, unique landscapes, and beautiful flora and fauna: Truly, an ultimate discovery.
Discovering
Rovers departed for expedition centres outside Nairobi. They had a rich experience interacting with local communities. They learned new skills. They did good turns in schools and for the environment. After an exciting four days, it was time to re-unite at Rowallan camp for another six days of fun, learning and friendship
Excitement galore engulfed the opening ceremony. Participants drowned in a celebratory mood as they witnessed the kicking off of the first ever World Scout Moot in Africa. Then it was time to depart for the various expedition centres for a four day adventure of ultimate discovery.
Excitement is mounting in Kenya where hundreds of international service volunteers,together with key personnel from the World Scout Bureau and scores of adult leaders from the Kenya Scouts Association are mobilizing themselves and preparing various expedition centres for the arrival of 1,500 rover scouts from all over the world who will take part in the 13th World Scout Moot, the first event of its kind on the african continent.
Welcome to yet another edition of the 13th World Scout Moot Bulletin. As 2010 dawns on us, it is also my privilege to welcome you all to the year of the World Scout Moot, the first ever to take place on African soil. This year, close to 3000 young adults from all over the world will converge in Kenya to partake in what we fondly call a Moot in Scouting parlance.
By joining, you will be able to make friends from all over the world and enjoy a bewildering array of fun-filled and yet educative activities. What‘s more, as you participate in this momentous event, you will be awed by the beauty of Kenya, the land where the Founder of Scouting, Lord Baden-Powell, chose to spend his last days.
The countdown to the Ultimate Discovery is in its final phase. Karibuni Kenya! It’s time!

Welcome to the first Bulletin for the 13th World Scout Moot which will be held in Kenya from 27th July to 7th August 2010. This Bulletin provides an update on progress with the preparations for the Moot.
An enormous variety of stimulating and exciting activities have been designed for the participants of the 13th World Scout Moot in Kenya. This event offers an excellent opportunity to all participants to enjoy themselves while having fun and learning more about Scouting in their groups, country and other countries throughout the world. This is a great opportunity to show how Scouting can “make a difference” at local, national and world levels.
