Communication Forum Palencia, Spain 25 – 28 January 2007

The 4th stop of the Communication Fora in Palencia, Spain, was a great success. Over 40 participants from 17 countries in Europe and Eurasia joined and discussed for three days.
Media training, discussion and debate, the exchange of best practices and an introduction to the new Scouts brand made for a lively and productive atmosphere. The contribution of the host committee (ASDE and MSC) helped to make the Forum a great event.

Participants comprised of two groups: PR commissioners/media managers and young spokespeople. Joint sessions for all the participants focused on the key elements of the communications strategy adopted at the 2005 World Scout Conference in Tunisia and the new Scouts brand. Focusing on supporting NSOs in the Centenary year to deliver a strategic message about Scouting, a specific training was given by the Communication Area of the World Scout Bureau. Additional training was given on working with the media and pitching stories provided by trainers from The Scout Association/UK. Two transversal issues have been discussed too: How the Scout brand can become a challenge for growth and development? and a second one: How to solve NSOs double belonging to WOSM and WAGGGS through a simple co-branding system? Responses will be brought with a complete report in April.
