90 Years of Scouting in Israel
Celebrations of the 90 years of Scouting in Israel were integrated with the celebrations of the centenary of Tel Aviv. 40 Scouts, aged from 16 to 18, built a model of Israel on the roof of the Azrieli Towers over a period of 2 days. The model included four special things: the under-sea museum in Eilat, the Azrieli Towers in Tel Aviv, the Shrine of the Book in Jerusalem and the Golan Heights wind stations.
The Scouts were drawn from across Israel and with them were Scouts with special needs and some adults. They raised more then 900 poles to the roof of the Azrieli Towers.
This model was the opening for a series of events that will end on 4 June with a big gathering of Scouts, past and present extending to many tens of thousands.
The main facts for this article were supplied by Dor Posner of the Israeli Scouts.
