Kiribati Scout Association to revive Scouting

The Kiribati Scout Association (KSA) organized its first-ever Multi-Purpose Workshop with the Asia-Pacific Regional Office from 9th to 11th of August 2008 with the participation of 25 Leaders and Commissioners.

While the workshop was on going, Kiribati Scout Association Chief Commissioner Titi Rimon chaired the executive meeting on 10th August 2008. He acknowledged the presence of Regional Director Abdullah Rasheed and Director S Prassanna Shrivastava of the World Scout Bureau/Asia-Pacific Region. Highlight of the meeting was the re-appointment of Commissioners to different positions of the association.

During the workshop, action steps addressing the needs on membership growth, training of leaders, scouting profile and the planned expansion to other islands were agreed between the national and the regional leaders.

The workshop ended with a special campfire in the presence of the Secretary of the Ministry of Internal and Social Affairs, Rikiaua Takeke who himself was a Scout and expressed his commitment to support Scouting.
