Africa Regional Director makes her Scout promise

Tuesday, the 17th of April, was a happy day for the Africa Regional Office Director, Ms. Rubina M. Haroon and to the Scouting fraternity for receiving a new member. On this day, she underwent an investiture ceremony that saw her join the worldwide scout fraternity. In her homeland Seychelles, the Regional Director went through the ceremony at the main Catholic Cathedral in Victoria, Mahe.

In a brief interview with Lynette, an intern in the Communications Unit, the new Scout member had this to say:
L. What was your feeling during the whole occasion?
R. Humility and elation
L. What did you like the most about the occasion?
R. The exuberant ambience of fraternity, integrity, decency and honesty
L. Were there any disappointments in the ceremony?
R. The fact that my son and husband could not be with me.
L. What would you like to see in future events of the same type?
R. The exemplification of what Scouting stands for carried out with dignity and the respect it deserves.
L. How long did the ceremony take?
R. About one hour
L. Which other dignitaries were present?
R. Hon. Bernard Shamlaye, Minister for Education
L. What is your general comment about the ceremony?
The ceremony solidified my commitment to Scouting by formalizing what I already believe in in front of my countrymen and fellow Scouts. The swearing in on both the Seychelles national flag and the purple Scout flag made me feel part of a wider cause with like-minded people.
