SW Discovery on Water Conservation, in Taipei, Taiwan
On Saturday 14 of October, in the classroom of the Soochow University of Taipei, Taiwan, was held the “SW Discovery” of “Water Conservation Project”.
The activity began with words of Vice-Secretary General of The General Association of Scouts of China Mr. Kuo, he said Scouts of the World Program (SWP) is the best way to carry out MDG, and to do the real contribution to the society. Hopefully there will be more and more rovers and youths join this meaningful service program and get the great honor of SW Award.
Afterwards Charles Lee- the member of Scouts of the World Technical Commission- introduced “what is SW?”, “How to get the SW Award?”, “How is SWP going in Taiwan?” and so on. All the participants were interested in being part of the program.
To improve the professional skills and knowledge about water resources of participants, the Taipei Rover SW Base invited Dr. Chang- Professor of Department of Environmental Management of TungNan Institute of Technology-to deliver a speech on “River Protection and Civilian Participation”. Besides, there were scouters led the lectures on “Basic Introduction of Water Resources”, “Team Building” and “Discussion Group ”.
At the end of the SW Discovery, all the participants decided to promote the basic ideas of water resources protection through the assemblies of the Scouting troops in Taipei, and start the voluntary service on next weekend. This showed their enthusiasm for Scouting and SWP. And I do believe they will do their best to accomplish this service program.
