Who are the lucky ones?
To provide information and help Scouts to develop empathy on a given topic.
• Developing Awareness
• Measuring change
• Short situations with positive and negative outcomes needs to be written on the chosen topic. Around 20 situations should be developed.
• Treats need to be allocated for the positive and negative outcomes and this should be written on the cards too.
• The Scouts sit in a circle and in turn they take and read a card and follow the instructions e.g. take 5 treats or take no treats or give three of your treats to a neighbour.
• Once all the cards have been read out, the leader prompts a discussion on the results e.g. who received most treats – was this fair?, how does this relate to real life?, how do people feel in real life when situations seem unfair?
Once the game has been played once the Scouts could write their own cards to share their thoughts and feelings on the topic. The game can then be played again with the new cards.
Cards with situations written on them and sweets or another food that the Scouts would consider a treat.
