What happens next?
To help Scouts consider difficult situations and develop empathy for people who find themselves in the given situation. It can also help Scouts to learn about decision-making as they realise that more than one set of actions is possible in a given situation.
Development Stage:
• Identifying the problems
• Developing Awareness
• Measuring Change
Instructions:
• The leader makes up situations which are appropriate to the topic but do not have obvious endings.
• These are written onto cards.
• In groups, participants are given cards and then asked to make up a role place which acts out the situation.
• Groups watch each others role plays and then discuss the ending chosen.
Alternatives:
1. The role play activity could also be adapted to fit with the theme of ‘what would you do in x situation’.
2. The same could be done through the use of cartoon strips. The first 2 boxes are filled in and then patrols finish the story.
Equipment Needed:
Cards with situations developed.
