2011 Report/2012 plan by Scouts of Georgia

Projects and activities implemented by Scouts of Georgia during 2011 on National Level (including those organized elsewhere with the participation of Georgian scouts)

1. Gilwell Basic CH 401-11 course in Switzerland, 14-25 April, 2011, with the participation of 15 scouts and leaders from Georgia and 20 scouts and leaders from Switzerland.

2. Summer camp “the Earth”, Lagodekhi, Georgia, 7-19 July, 2011, in the framework of two projects: Georgia-Swiss cooperation project “Unity in Diversity” and BP funded project YCBP.
· 60 scouts from different regions of Georgia and 173 kids from YCBP target schools have enjoyed scout camp, acquired leadership, group building and scouting skills, became more sensitive to the environmental issues and integrated with the youth from different regions of Georgia;
· Positive, friendly and cheerful environment of the camp served as a foundation for high level integration between participants and strengthened self-confidence and responsibility of the participants;
· Scout leaders have strengthened their leadership abilities and established links with the scouts from other regions;
· Cultural exchange between Georgia and Switzerland was ensured by joint activities organised by Swiss and Georgian leaders.

3. Working visits of Swiss leaders to Georgia: 1-4 October and 21-28 November, 2011, Tbilisi, Gori, Kutaisi. Main topics of the visits were: How to plan training courses and how to plan big games.

4. Participation of Scouts of Georgia in the international activities:
· Paris D’avenir in Paris, France, 19-22 April, 2011, 4 rovers and 1 leader
· Organisational Management course in Yalta, 22-27 June, 2011, 3 members of the National board
· BSA Camp Staff Programme in Texas, USA, 30 May – 1 August, 2011, 3 leaders
· World Scout Jamboree, Sweden, 27 July – 8 August, 2011, 7 participants 1 leader
· Peace Symposium, Astana, Kazakhstan, 8-12 September, 2011, 2 members of the National board
· Second Peace Camp, Saudi Arabia, 20-29 September, 2011, 2 rovers
· Excelscout, Krasnokamenka, Ukraine, 11-16 October, 2011, 2 rovers
· Training for Trainers, Krasnokamenka, Ukraine, 1 trainer and 2 leaders
· 2nd Europe-Eurasia meeting, 25-27 November, Prague, 2 members of the National board

Financial aid and grants received during 2011

1. Grant from USFIS to publish Leaders’ book in Georgian, received in Spring, 2011;
2. Two scouts supported to take part in the 22nd Jamboree, Sweden;
3. National Camp supported by the “Mercator” foundation in the framework of Georgia-Swiss scout partnership project;
4. Grant by the Project Supporting Guiding and Scouting in Eastern Europe (under the Danish NSO) to ensure participation of 9 scouts and 1 trainer from Georgia in the leadership training organized by HASK in Armenia;
5. Several scouts supported to take part in various meetings and trainings during the year.

Existing and planned partnerships for 2012

1. Continuation of the “Unity in Diversity” Partnership Programme between Swiss and Georgian scouts with the financial support of “Mercator” foundation;
2. Continuation of the partnership with Armenian and Danish scouts regarding leader’s school project;
3. New partnership planned with the Lithuanian scouts to implement the youth policy promotion project;
4. New partnership planned with the Polish and Azerbaijanian scouts (with the involvement of Danish scouts) to implement in Georgia and Azerbaijan the training system practiced by the Scouts of Poland.
