Community-Based Scouting Updates

We have several updates that we would like to share with you to support the implementation of the Community-Based Scouting (CBS). To begin with, the CBS Workshop was conducted from 27 to 30 May 2010 in Davao, the Philippines and many actions were undertaken by the World Scout Bureau, Asia-Pacific Regional Office to ensure the implementation of the programme.
Community-Based Scouting Section on the APR website
Recognizing the crucial impact of Scouting on communities and based on the Bangalore Summit recommendations, Community-Based Scouting section has been created on the APR website that is containing some materials to support all NSOs in sharing information and in helping implement their own CBS initiatives at national level. These materials are: CBS Network List, Best Practices of some NSOs, CBS Workshop Final Recommendations, and 7th APR Scout Leader's Summit Recommendations. They are available for downloading from:

Community-Based Scouting Co-ordinators:
For the follow up of the CBS programme efficiently, APR has requested all National Scout Organisations to appoint National Coordinators. Out of 26 NSOs, 18 NSOs appointed their Coordinators. These NSOs are Australia, Buthan, Scouts of China, Fiji, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Korea, Maldives, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Macau.
Some countries are still remaining to appoint their CBS Coordiantors. They are: Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Japan, Kiribati, Malysia, Mangolia and French Polynesia Community-Based Scouting on Alfresco.
All coordinators have been invited to join Community-Based Scouting on Alfresco. You should have access to the CBS site of Alfresco collaboration site and if not, please contact us so that we can set up an access account. In this Network, you find almost complete set of resources and materials of the CBS Workshop in Davao, the Philippines like presentations, Group working and others to share them through Alfresco collaboration site. In addition to these, a space is provided so that you can share your experiences, questions or discussions about the implementation of the Community-Based Scouting programme. Please feel free to share your approaches to implementing the Community-Based Scouting Programme.
Co-ordinators terms of Reference
In order to make the network more effective and proactive, co- ordinators Terms of Reference was developped to support all NSOs of the region to appoint the focal points of the Community-Based Scouting based on a given criteria. The Term of Reference was circulated to all NSOs and the feed back is welcomed.
