The 2007 EUROPA stamp celebrates young people across Europe

Portoroz, Slovenia - On the 9 May, Europe Day, in Portoroz, Slovenia, Scouts and PostEurop will launch the 2007 EUROPA stamp celebrating Scouting’s centenary. Over 50 postal operators in Europe are participating in this special issue. As community based organisations, Scouts and postal operators are working in partnership in 2007, the centenary year of Scouting, and to send the joint message to celebrate Scouting, celebrate the positive contribution of youth involvement.

2007 marks 100 years of Scouting. 2007 is not only about celebrating the great achievements of Scouting, but also reaffirming the commitment of responding to the changing needs of young people and promoting the positive contribution they make in their communities. EUROPA stamps are special stamps issued by European postal administrations/enterprises under the aegis of PostEurop which have Europe as their central theme.

PostEurop, the Association of 43 European public postal operators, established in 1993, embraces all the diversity and complexity of the European postal environment. PostEurop Members employ some 2.1 million people worldwide (out of which 1.6 million within the EU), manage a network of over 175,000 counters which reach out to 800 million customers, and account for 30-40% of the world’s total mail traffic.
