The 39th World Scout Conference was held from the 10th to 14th of January 2011 at Estação Convention Center in Curitiba, Brazil. Built in 2004, it's a state-of-the-art, world-class convention center with 25,000 square meters of fully air-conditioned space able to host events for up to 5,000 people .
Curitiba, the capital city of the State of Paraná, is a modern and cosmopolitan city in Southern Brazil. Care for nature is a characteristic of the city where we count 55 square meters of 'green space' per inhabitant. Just the parks and plazas alone add up to over 80 million square meters. Curitiba also has an very efficient public transportation system, modern and efficient hotels and various convention centers with the necessary infrastructure, safety and comfort to host a big event.
It is easy to get to Curitiba: it is 800 km from Rio de Janeiro and only 400 km from São Paulo, which means no more than 40 minutes by plane. It has an international airport that connects the city to all parts of the country and to many cities in other countries.
The 39th World Scout Conference was held 10-14 January 2011 in Curitiba, Brazil. Hosted by the União dos Escoteiros do Brasil (the Brazilian Scouts Association), it was attended by 918 participants from 138 countries.
The Conference Evaluation was developed through an electronic questionnaire. It was available in the five official languages of WOSM and was anonymous. 713 people received the electronic, although 298 logged into it, only 196 fully filled the evaluation. Providing a 27.5% response rate.
The Triennial Report 2008-2011 (Conference Document 3), together with the Reports of the Chairman of the World Scout Committee, of the Secretary General and of the World Treasurer, constitute part of the Triennial Review for the period 2008-2011 being presented to the 39th World Scout Conference in Brazil.
