African rovers rock youth gathering in Yemen!

From 15 to 25 August 2008, four African Rover Scouts participated in the 11th International Youth Gathering for Cultural Exchange that was held in Yemen. They were from Angola, Mozambique and Ethiopia (2). The Regional Office was represented by Euloge Ishimwe, the Communications Manager. The Youth Gathering was held concurrently with the 17th Arab Scout Moot, in Sana'a the capital city of Yemen.

''Our youth are our most precious fortune... our country will give them the whole right of active participation in decision making and sustainable development of our country'', affirmed the President of the Republic of Yemen, H.E. Ali Abdullah Saleh, in a statement to the event organisers.

The event had a rich programme, from educational visits to historical landmarks, lectures, to cultural exchange sessions. ''Africa's participation is a step towards closer cooperation between the Arab and the Africa Regional Offices'', said Dr. Atif Abdelmageed, the Arab Scout Regional Director.
