Conference of NGOs
The Conference of NGOs in consultative relations with the UN (CONGO) is an independent, international, not-for-profit membership association of nongovernmental organisations that facilitates the participation of NGOs in United Nations debates and decisions.
Since its inception in 1948, CONGO has worked to represent NGOs in the international sector and also to serve as a catalyst for their mobilization.
World Scouting's involvement in CONGO allows it to represent Scouts' interests and collaborate with other NGOs. In 2003, World Scouting was elected to the CONGO Board for a three year term. In addition, World Scouting is also a member of the CONGO Youth Committee, a mechanism that facilitates the sharing of information among youth NGOs in Geneva. World Scouting was considered instrumental in the reestablishment of this committee in 2003.
WOSM was elected to the board of CONGO for three years at the General Assembly which was held in Geneva in December 2003.
The Committee of Youth NGO's of CONGO is a space of information sharing among the youth NGOs based or represented in Geneva.
