Volvo Adventure

The Volvo Adventure - in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme - is an educational programme that rewards environmental activities and the decision-makers of the future. To enter, you form a team of 2 to 5 members aged 13 to 16 (at competition opening - July 1st 2011). Perform an environmental project in your local community & submit the project via our online submission tool before the competition deadline, January 31st 2012.

Projects are judged and the best projects are selected for an all expenses paid trip to Göteborg, Sweden where they can win: 1st place = 10,000 USD, 2nd = 6,000 USD and 3rd = 4,000 USD.

See the registration details and guidelines for more information from: www.volvoadventure.org

Scouting has many strong examples of youth-led environment projects from around the world which demonstrate how Scouts are contributing in practical ways to 'Creating a Better World'. Volvo Adventure recognises environmental projects conducted by 13 to 16 year olds from around the world and are opening a special opportunity for Scouts to receive help in preparing and delivering their environment projects. Could you be the next Scouts to make it to the international final in Sweden, competing with groups from around the world for the top prizes?

A campaigning project to rescue and revive an endangered and environmentally-sensitive urban park in the Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod has won the 2008 Volvo Adventure and the US$10,000 first prize. The five students of the 'Green Sail' team, beat off stiff competition at the World Final in Gothenburg, Sweden, earlier this week.

The finalists, aged 13 - 17 from 15 countries, had all presented outstanding projects tackling a wide range of environmental challenges facing their community, with flow on benefits to the worldwide environment.

Arranged in collaboration with the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) the Volvo Adventure Award rewards active young people who create their own environmental projects. We are now searching for the 2008 winners – could it be you? All you have to do is register and enter your project by visiting www.volvoadventure.org.
