Colombia’s Adults in Scouting Policy review process

From last 7 to 9 March, the Colombian Adult Resources Direction, gaathered in Pereira in order to review their national Adults in Scouting policy. This review is a consequence of the changes introduced in both the Adults in Scouting World Policy and the regional policy "The adults we need", in 2011 and 2013 respectively. Given that these policies introduced key elements to develop, among others, the competency approach in the training and management of adults, Colombia decided that it was time to review their own policy to adjust it to the Movement's current model."After five years of our national policy it was now time to review it and make the adjustments to adapt our adult management system to the policies of the upper levels and also to the current realities of our adults. In 2009 it was important to have the policy that was approved by then, and thanks to it, it is that we made huge steps in the consolidation of ouradult management system. But now is the right moment to continue with further developments to improve and strengthen our Adults in Scouting policy", said Paulo Velázquez, National Director of Adults Resources.In the meeting also participated the National Youth Programme Director, Alejandro Marulanda, providing feedback from his field of knowledge andstrategic area, as well as the Adults in Scouting Director of the WSB-IAR ,Ralf Dillmann, who explained in detail each of the components of the regional policy and the implications derived from them. The result of the meeting is the draft of a National Adults in Scouting Policy proposal, coherent with the world and regional policies. Also the commitment and request of Colombia to be part of the implementation of the competencies approach at national and regional levels."I am very happy with the results of this meeting and the draft of the policy we are building. Personally I had not realized before the important elements that the new regional policy has and now I love this policy and I am truly convinced of the importance of the changes we are introducing in our national policy", said Liliana Rios, one of the participants and member of the National AIS Team of Colombia, at the end of the meeting.
